Hearfield Research...

... real-world web design

Hearfield Research designs and makes websites and rich internet applications which address the real needs of our clients.

What, why, how?

This site is written in XHTML and uses cascading style sheets (CSS) to define how the basic markup language is presented.

If you change the style of the site to "none" using the Styles menu, you will be able to see what this all looks like without makeup, as it were.

The idea is to separate the content from the presentation and is part of a standards-compliant approach.

On small-scale projects, this really just makes it easier to change the way things look. With larger projects, it makes team working easier as developers can concentrate solely on generating (standards compliant) content.
